Some of our families decided to continue with lessons over the summer, and we’re happy that their children are enjoying while learning.

Here’s a simple, mindful activity which a mom enjoyed doing with her son: Disappearing art!

Giving her son these lessons at her own time, and at her son’s pace allowed her to see the benefits of homeschooling. She shared these words to the community, and we’re so grateful to hear it.

Learning is fun when it gets to travel with you! 🤍

Here is a mama taking a snap of her son building the alphabet with shells at the beach. 🌞

“We had a blast!”

Gia and her daughter are from Davao, and their Montessori Lifestyle began in 2020. She had the desire to homeschool, because she wanted her daughter to receive the benefits of a flexible and well-rounded program. From then, she was convinced to homeschool all the way.

Gia is our pioneer family. We want to honor her for her extraordinary strength. Navigating through homeschooling for the first time during a pandemic was one thing, but raising a child as a single mother is a whole different battle in itself. We knew it wasn’t easy, yet we always felt her fighting spirit from miles away. She gives us reasons to keep doing our best—no excuses.

“Combining letter sounds is still a work in progress but seeing her improve each time is a such a treat 🥰 bonus pa that she automatically puts back the materials properly.”

Words from a mom to her daughter, in honor of a successful homeschool year together: “You are God’s reminder to me that miracles happen everyday. And, that being different or being differently able is not a bad thing. Nor does it mean you are broken that needed fixing. You are your own person and you are enough. You have different needs that requires different support. No matter what others say, you are who you are and that will always be enough. You are capable and has the capacity to expand and grow into your potential because you are God’s creation.”

We are often asked if it is possible to homeschool with two children in the first plane of development (aged 0-6 years old). In Montessori, mixed age groups in a class is beneficial because the older children get to help the younger children and, in the process, develop leadership skills. The younger children have older children to aspire and look up to when they see them do “challenging work.” It’s a symbiosis that we see especially in the home setting. It’s like hearing an older sibling say, “I got your back no matter what.”

“Grabe sobrang roller-coaster! My anxiety kicked in again, pero ito… I am slowly getting back to homeschooling. Nakakaloka! Happy ako kasi for a long time my daughter has been resisting working on the alphabet box. So nung isang araw, sobrang random lang, like I did yung activity where she will complete the word “_at”. Tapos suddenly she was able to blend the sounds in her mind. Hirap kasi talaga siya dati, so ayaw niya magblend. So ito, since nagawa niya, she has been trying to read na. Nakakatuwa din kasi may C-V-C book dito… 3 days na she would get a book by herself—though hindi niya natatapos—pero nakaka 2-3 pages siya. Tapos sasabihin niya. “So hard!” ayaw na niya. Pero mamaya mag-read again siya.”

Tin and her husband call their son a miracle baby. They always prayed for a child, but God wanted to teach them patience first. After years of trying, they finally received what they’ve longed for. At a later stage in life, it was a miracle for them, indeed!

They were certain that homeschooling would be the best choice to raise a Godly and loving individual, and also cherish every opportunity with their biggest miracle by far.

After updating us on her daughter’s new interests that week, Nikki was moved by the growth that her daughter has been showing. She shared these words with us: “It just blows my mind that even though my daughter has a diagnosis, it seems like she’s a regular kid—learning differently. She’s teaching me so much in my life. Glory to God! I never imagined she’d be learning the way she’s learning now.”

With her intentional guidance and devotion to her daughter’s development, she’s also teaching our community about how we must live our lives as guides to children. 🤍
